Top 3 Most Effective Ab Exercises

Training your core muscles is important for a number of reasons:

Today we’re going to take a look at 3 exercises which engage your entire core, when performed correctly.

Landmine Russian Twists

  1. Lie down on the floor placing your feet either under something that will not move or by having a partner hold them. Your legs should be bent at the knees.
  2. Elevate your upper body so that it creates an imaginary V-shape with your thighs. Your arms should be fully extended in front of you perpendicular to your torso and with the hands clasped. This is the starting position.
  3. Twist your torso to the right side until your arms are parallel with the floor while breathing out.
  4. Hold the contraction for a second and move back to the starting position while breathing out. Now move to the opposite side performing the same techniques you applied to the right side.
  5. Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.

Optional: (As shown in the video above) add a barbell for an extra challenge.

V-Up with T-Bar

  1. Lie face up with legs and arms extended forward.
  2. Keeping knees and elbows locked simultaneously raise upper body and lower body while trying to touch fingers to toes.
  3. Lower your body back to the start repetition.
  4. Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.

Optional: (As shown in the video above) add a barbell for an extra challenge.

Single Arm Barbell V-Ups

    1. Use the same steps shown above for the “V-Up with T-Bar” exercise.
  1. Switch between lowering the barbell with your right hand, raising your upper body, then switching barbell to left hand, and lowering your body.
  2. Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.
